I dont think that the Over heating issue on the lap is a fault in ubuntu
. What I think is that the CPU scaling is not working correcly. If I recall
correctly , the CPU Scaling app in ubuntu is powernowd . You just have to
start it and see if your CPU supports CPU frequency scaling .
Anyway , I don't think that you can troubleshoot this prob without
actually installing . So install ubuntu and test it. Anyway Looks like it
has the CPU frequency Scaling feature disabled. Ubuntu is a Great piece of
software , I don't think that it will have a specific bug for the Compaq
series. So install it tweak it and then troubleshoot. Most probably you can
get over it.
