This is my first issue that im posting to LUG mailing list. And so happy to
be with sri lankan foss community
Im a fedora 11 user and i have used mysql with out issue so far
but now in reciving the eror msg
[kasun@kasun ~]$ mysql
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
[root@kasun ~]# /etc/init.d/mysqld start
Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.
Starting MySQL: [FAILED]
stucks with no respond
[root@kasun ~]# mysql -u root -h localhost -p
Enter password:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
placr of the socket is returned as
[root@kasun ~]# mysql_config --socket
/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
I deleted mysql.sock from var/lib/mysql hoping that the file will be
recreated when i start the mysqld but this didnt happen and the error
remains the same.
and i completely remove mysql and re install it by yum
yet the issue remains
then i remove it and install tarball distributions
but yet im undone
Please some one help me
